2. AIRBUS FLIGHT OPERATIONS DIGITAL DATA – GOING DIGITAL PROJECT
Airbus started the Flight Operations Going Digital project aiming at creating XML data for all SA
and LR related documents.
Therefore, the tools used to publish and to view the manuals will also change to handle XML
format. They will benefit of an advanced XML documentation edition and consultation features
(LPC Browser derived from A380).
The delivery date of these tools will be linked to the delivery date of MMEL and FCOM manuals in
XML format. FCTM and CCOM have been delivered in XML format before availability of the tools,
these data are used by airlines developing their own documentation management system.
The Airbus Flight Operations Going Digital project started in 2005. With the completion of the
Going Digital Project, Airbus intends to suppress the production and the delivery of corresponding
paper documents at mid term.

Manuals availability planning.
The delivery will be done it two steps: Release 0 (R0) XML SGML will be delivered.
R1 6 month after R0: PDF, XML and LPC Browser formats will be delivered. SGML will be stopped.

More details and precise dates have been given during May 2009 Paris Flight Ops meeting and on
Going Digital web site on Airbus World.
The training on XML files and tools will start early, prior the FCOM and MMEL delivery to be ahead
of schedule. This planning is currently under study.
