PSP 604-15 FLIGHT CONTROLS
Aileron System Jammed
NOTE
With a jammed primary flight control, it may be necessary
to reduce airspeed to improve airplane handling.
(1) Autopilot ...............................................................DISCONNECT
(2) Aileron controls.....................................................OVERPOWER
Use aileron trim to alleviate forces on controls, if jam has
occurred away from the neutral position.
Jam persists:
Yes
(3) Aileron controls............................... RELEASE PRESSURE
(4) ROLL DISC................................................PULL and TURN
(5) Jammed side .................................................. DETERMINE
If right side, do not re-engage autopilot.
No
(3) Land at the nearest suitable airport.
NOTE
Controllability is reduced. Select longest runway available
with minimum turbulence and crosswind.
Prior to landing:
(4) GPWS/FLAP OVRD (if installed)....................................... OVRD
(5) Landing flaps .......................................................................... 20°
(6) Approach speed ...........................................................VREF + 14
minimum.
(7) Actual landing distance ............................................. INCREASE
as applicable, by factor given below:
WITHOUT THRUST
REVERSERS
WITH THRUST

to reduce airspeed to improve airplane handling.
(1) Autopilot ...............................................................DISCONNECT
(2) Elevator controls...................................................OVERPOWER
Use stabilizer trim to compensate, if elevator jam has
occurred away from trimmed position.
Jam persists:
Yes
(3) Elevator controls............................. RELEASE PRESSURE
(4) PITCH DISC ..............................................PULL and TURN
(5) Jammed side .................................................. DETERMINE
If left side, do not re-engage autopilot.

(left or right) ...........................................................OFF
NOTE
Stick shaker on operative control column,
operates at a lower intensity.

NOTE
With a jammed primary flight control, it may be necessary
to reduce airspeed to improve airplane handling.

(2) YD DISC.............................................................................PUSH
(3) Rudder pedals ......................................................OVERPOWER
Jam persists:
Yes
(4) Straight flight....................................................... MAINTAIN
using aileron and differential thrust, until
touchdown.
NOTE
Approximately 20% N1 differential thrust may be
required to maintain wings-level flight using thrust
alone. If available, rudder trim can be used to
maintain directional control.
No
