application of which is recognized as desirable in the
interest of safety, regularity or efljciency of intcrnational
air navjgation, and to which Contracting
States will cndeavow to conform in accordance with
the Convention.
b) Appendices comprising material grouped separately
for coilvenience but forming part of the Standards
and Reconlmended Practices adopted by the Council.
c) Definitio~ls of tcrlns used in the Standards and
Reconlmended Practices wl~ich are not selfexplanatory
in that they do not have accepted
dictionary meanings. A detinition does not have
independent status but is a11 essential part of each
Standard and Recolnlncndcd Practice in which rhe
tern1 is used, since a change in the meaning of the
term vvould affect the specification.
d) Tubler and Figures v~luch add to or illustrate a
Standard or Reconunendcd Pract~ce and which are
refcrred tu therein, form part of the associated
Standard nr Recommended Practice and have the
same status.

State is requested to select one of thosc texts for the
purpose of national inlplementation and for other effects
provided for in the Conventio~l, either through dircct use or
tlxough iranslation into its own national language, and to
notify the Organization accordingly.
