Functional Description
Flight Ops Doc Manager application allows users to create, customize and publish aircraft technical documents (also called manuals) structured in XML.
Users can load existing manuals related to an aircraft revision that Airbus delivered. Users can also create new manuals.
Once a manual is in the Flight Ops Doc Manager repository, users can customize it by modifying its structure, content or the metadata of every one of its elements.
Flight Ops Doc Manager manages several releases of a manual, making distinctions between an Airbus release and an Airline release.
Finally, documents can be published in various formats.

Interfaces
2.4.1
Standalone version
In this version of Flight Ops Doc Manager, the database engine and the JRE are embedded in the software. It is installed by the Flight Ops Doc Manager installer.
2.4.1.1
LSBM
LSBM shall be installed on the computer. LSBM_HOME shall be set to point the LSBM 3.1a installation directory.

Client/Server version
2.4.2.1
Apache HTTP Server
The client application of the Client/Server version is deployed via Java Web Start. This tool needs an HTTP server.
The Flight Ops Doc Manager will propose you to install an Apache HTTP Server. Note that the target host can use a previously installed Apache server.
2.4.2.2
RDBMS
The Flight Ops Doc Manager relies on a database engine. Flight Ops Doc Manager is compatible with the following software:
HSQLDB 1.8: this engine can be installed with the Flight Ops Doc Manager if you don’t have an instance available on the other engines. HSQLDB does not need any prerequisites. It can be installed with the Flight Ops Doc Manager.
Oracle 10g: you must have created an instance before installing Flight Ops Doc Manager. Please note the login/password of the user account available for a JDBC connection.
PostgreSQL 8.2: you must have created an instance before installing Flight Ops Doc Manager. Please note the login/password of the user account available for a JDBC connection.
Note: no support will be provided on this database, prefer Oracle or HSQLDB
MySQL 5: you must have created an instance before installing Flight Ops Doc Manager. Please note the login/password of the user account available for a JDBC connection. Note: no support will be provided on this database, prefer Oracle or HSQLDB

LSBM
LSBM shall be installed on the server. LSBM_HOME shall be set to point the LSBM 3.1a installation directory.

2.5
Defining the architecture
When working on Flight Ops data there can be more than one person involved in the task. To reduce the possibility of duplicated effort or, even worse, some overwriting of previously approved data, Flight Ops Doc Manager allow multiple users to work within the system concurrently. Safeguards are implemented and they don’t allow more than one person to work on the same data at the same time, this will be achieved by means of ‘locking’ the data and the ‘checking in/out’ of the data base.
The system can be installed on a server and the clients can access the data from desktops.
Flight Ops Doc Manager application can be used in standalone or client/server mode. The way to install the application in those two modes is detailed in chapter 4.3.
