and through the forward door sill drain fitting.
The forward gray water drain valve is open on the ground to
prevent water from being trapped in the drain hose that is
above the cargo compartment ceiling. This drain hose is in a
one degree nose down incline (away from the drain mast) when
the airplane is on the ground.
When the airplane is in the air, the forward gray water drain
valve is closed. Waste water in the forward waste water system
then drains through the forward drain mast.
The forward gray water drain valve is closed in flight to keep the
waste water from freezing in the forward door sill drain fitting.
Waste water in the aft waste water system drains overboard
through the aft drain mast when the airplane is on the ground
and when the airplane is in the air.
GUN ALL
Electrical heaters in the drain masts prevent the drain masts
from freezing.

Purpose
The forward gray water drain valve lets water drain from the
level part of the forward waste water drain system when the
airplane is on the ground.
Location
The drain valve is at the left side of the EE compartment,
outboard of the E1 rack.
Physical Description
The forward gray water drain valve has these parts:
* Inlet port
* Outlet port
* Motor
* Spring housing
* Electrical connector.
Functional Description
The forward gray water drain valve operates when the airplane
is on the ground. Bus 1 supplies 28v dc through the GROUND
contact of the air/ground relay. The forward gray water drain
valve opens to let water in the forward waste water system
drain overboard.
The forward gray water drain valve is spring-loaded to the
closed position.

Purpose
The drain masts let waste water from the lavatory and galley
sinks flow overboard.
The drain masts have internal heaters that keep the waste
water from freezing.
Location
There are two drain masts on the lower fuselage.
The forward drain mast is on the bottom of the fuselage, forward
of the right air conditioning compartment.
The aft drain mast is on the bottom of the fuselage, aft of the aft
cargo compartment.
Physical Description
The drain mast is an aerodynamic fairing that attaches to the
fuselage.
Each drain mast has an internal 250 watt heater.
See the Water and Toilet Drain Anti-Icing System section for
information on the drain mast heaters. (SECTION 30-71).
Training Information Point
The heater on the forward drain mast connects to the airplane
wiring through an electrical connector.
The heater on the aft drain mast connects to the airplane wiring
through wire splices. When you replace the aft drain mast, you
must make a splice in the wires.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE THE FASTENERS, HOLD THE
DRAIN MAST. IF THE DRAIN MAST FALLS,
