COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The skin mounted outflow valve is of the dual-gate and
motor driven type design.
It consists of:
- a valve assembly (a frame and two gates),
- two electronic actuators (a single electronic
board connected to its associated CPC via RS422
bus),
- a gearbox assembly (two automatic motors, a
manual motor, a gearbox and feedback
assembly).
VALVE ASSEMBLY
The outflow valve body has two gates, one forward and
one aft. The gates are installed in a rectangular
frame. The forward gate opens outwards and is
mechanically connected to the aft gate. The aft gate
opens inwards and is mechanically connected to the
gear box and the forward gate.
ELECTRONIC ACTUATORS
The electronic actuator modules receive a position
reference signal (desired outflow valve position) from
the controller. This signal is compared with the
outflow valve actual position. The electronic module
then drives the outflow valve until its position
matches the desired one.
A pressure switch is installed in each box. It operates
independently from the automatic operation. It closes
the outflow valve if the pressure in the fuselage is
less than the atmospheric pressure at an altitude of
15000 ft.
GEARBOX AND FEEDBACK ASSEMBLY
The gearbox transmits the movement from the activated
motor to the outflow valve flap. A mechanical stop
limits the rotation of the drive shaft for the valve
flap movement. The feedback module is a triple
potentiometer integrated with the gearbox. It sends
data to the cabin pressure controllers.
There are two brushless DC motors for automatic
control. Each motor has an integral electromechanical
brake. The manual motor is a brush-type DC motor. It
drives the outflow valve through an irreversible
worm-gear.

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
The safety valve is of the diaphragm pneumatic valve
type and consists of:
- a body, a filter, a moving valve element
(diaphragm).
- a pneumatic pressure controller sensing cabin
and outside pressures
- a position switch for ECAM indication.
Opening: when DP = 8.6 or - 0.5 psi.

PRESSURIZATION - FUNCTIONAL TEST OF MAN MOTOR
AIRCRAFT CONFIGURATION
On the ground.
No air supply.
Electrical power available.
LDG ELEV selector and DITCHING pushbutton selection
is not necessary to perform this test.
PROCEDURE
Set the MODE SEL pushbutton to MAN.
As long as the MAN V/S CTL switch is held in the DN
position, the MANUAL MOTOR controls the outflow valve
to close.
As long as the MAN V/S CTL switch is held in the UP
position, the outflow valve is controlled to open by
means of the MANUAL MOTOR.
Set the MODE SEL pushbutton back to AUTO.
