Software Configuration Check
To verify the version of software loaded to the CMU unit, MCDU display is provided listing all applicable part numbers.
The steps to review the software part numbers loaded to CMU are:
1.
Select ACARS from MCDU MENU screen. ACARS Main Menu screen will appear.
2.
Select MAINT from ACARS Main Menu screen. ACARS MAINTENANCE screen will appear.
3.
Select PART NUMBER on ACARS MAINTANENCE screen. This will display ACARS PART NUMBER screen with list of Operational Software & Database part numbers as well as other configuration information for reference and identification.
The Operational Software & Database part numbers should be checked against those numbers that have been specified by respective Engineering department within the Airlines.
Part Numbers
Display part numbers of hardware and software for system identification
NOTE:
CMU hardware part number is 965-0758-001 Part number of the database is identified in the Reconfiguration Tool. CMU can be defined to generate a trigger when software is reloaded. This can be used to send a message containing the part numbers of the software loaded into the unit at that moment. This function can be useful for airline configuration control.
Status Information
CMU provides various MCDU screens that can be used to isolate problems on the aircraft or with the avionics. A detailed description of these MCDU screens and their operation are described in detail in the CMU Requirements Document.

Error Log
CMU has ACARS ERROR LOG page that allows access to sub-menus which provide detailed information about faults detected by CMU. Three categories of fault are available:
Class 1 and 2 Faults – while aircraft is in flight. Fatal error causing CMU to reset.
Class 3 Faults – while aircraft is in flight. Non fatal errors indicating change in system environment.
Ground Faults – while aircraft is on ground. Non fatal errors detected on ground but have no adverse affect on system function.
