Initial Installation of Software/Database or Update of Software/Database
A. Place the aircraft selector switch in the ACARS position. Note: If the unit has not previously had software loaded, then remove power from the CMU.
B. Insure power is applied to the Data Loader.
C. Insert the CMU “Operational Software” diskette into the Data Loader and verify that the Data Loader RDY indicator illuminates. Refer to Mark II CMU Front Panel LED Definitions Table for the CMU display indications.
D. Power up the CMU.
E. Verify that within one minute or less the Data Loader PROG indicator illuminates, signifying the data transfer is in progress.
F. Successful upload of the diskette is indicated when the Data Loader COMP indicator is illuminated. In the event of an upload fault, refer to the Mark II CMU Front Panel LED Definitions Table for a definition of the CMU LED conditions. Remove the diskette from the Data Loader.
G. Repeat steps (C), (E) and (F) with the “Database” diskette.
H. Return the selector switch to the Normal position after the Data Loader COMP indictor stays on for at least 5 seconds.
Update of Database Only
Repeat steps (A) through (F) as described in above with only the “Database” diskette. Then return the selector switch to Normal as in step (H). Once the operational software is loaded, the database can be loaded while the CMU is running.
CMU Software Installation via Portable Data Loader
Initial Installation of Software/Database or Update of Software/Database
A. Attach a Portable Data Loader to the CMU using the CMU adapter cable.
B. Apply power to the CMU if CMU is OFF. If CMU is ON, press the RESET button to reset CMU to a cold start.
C. Repeat steps (C), (E) and (F) – (From installation process with a Fixed Data Loader)
D. Repeat steps (C), (E) and (F) with the “Database” diskette.
E. Disconnect the Portable Data Loader when the green XFER COMP (LED on the CMU front panel) is illuminated.
Update of Database Only
A. Attach a Portable Data Loader to the CMU adapter cable.
B. Apply power to the CMU if CMU is OFF. If CMU is ON, press the RESET button to reset CMU to a cold start.
C. Repeat steps (C), (E) and (F) with the “Database” diskette.
D. Disconnect the Portable Data Loader.
