The speed probe output that goes to channel A also goes to the EDIU and AVM signal conditioner. The wiring for these signals goes through the EEC.
N2 Speed Signal
The N2 speed signal comes from the PMA. The PMA sends two single-phase ac outputs to the EEC. One goes to channel A. The other goes to channel B. The EEC gets N2 from the frequency of these ac signals.
The PMA output that goes to channel A, also goes to the AIMS and AVM signal conditioner. The wiring for these signals goes through the EEC.
EEC Outputs
The EEC sends digital speed signals to the AIMS on the systems ARINC 629 buses.

ENGINE INDICATING -EGT -GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Purpose
The EGT indicating system monitors low pressure turbine exhaust temperature (T4.95).
General Description
Four thermocouple probes supply average temperature signals to the EEC. The probes connect in parallel.
The EEC changes the average temperature signals into ARINC 429 digital data and send it to the EDIU. The EDIU sends ARINC 629 data to the AIMS.
Indications
The EGT indication on the EICAS display shows these temperature readouts and limits:

Actual EGT

Redline

*
Amber band

*
Start limit.

Actual EGT shows in degrees C.
The EGT start limit shows when the fuel control switch is in CUTOFF and during engine start. It goes away after the engine gets to idle speed.
If EGT goes above the amber band, the display turns amber. If EGT goes above the redline or the start limit, the display turns red. When the EGT goes back to a value below the limit, the display turns white. The box around the readout, however, stays red. The box turns white when you push the CANCEL/RECALL switch on the DSP. The box color turns red or white with each push of the CANCEL/RECALL switch. To permanently erase the red box, you must erase the engine exceedance maintenance page.
