B. Install Main Cargo Door Exterior Lock Handle
(1)
Place lock handle in position in fairing with splined shaft installation hole in handle (1, Fig. 201) lined up with mating shaft installation holes in fairing, and washers (2) and (3) in place between handle and fairing at upper and lower surfaces of handle.
(2)
Align index splines on shaft (6) and handle (1) and insert handle through bearings in fairing housing and through handle.
(3)
Install lower shaft nut (5) with washer. Install cotter pin. Tighten nut (5) finger-tight, loosen one quarter turn and install cotter pin.
(4)
Connect telescoping tube rod end (8) to shaft at crank clevis.
(5)
Connect spring cartridge (7) to shaft (6) at crank clevis.
(6)
Remove clamping device from spring cartridge (7).
(7)
Check adjustment of manual lock mechanism (Ref 52-32-11, Adjustment/Test).

Install items removed in par. 3.A.

4. Approved Repairs - Main Cargo Door Exterior Lock Handle
A. General
(1) This approved repair consists of shear rivet replacement on 65C14986-1 lock handle assembly installed on the above airplanes. The handle must be removed (Ref par. 3.A.) before replacing shear rivets.
B. Replace Main Cargo Door Exterior Lock Handle Shear Rivets (Fig. 201)
(1)
Remove lock handle (Ref par. 3.A.).
(2)
Remove sheared portions of rivets from handle and spline fitting. Check that holes are clean and free of burrs.
(3)
Install rivet (4 places) through handle and spline fitting.
CAUTION: NO RIVET SUBSTITUTIONS ARE ALLOWED. USE ONLY RIVET PART NUMBERS SPECIFIED IN LIST OF EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS. THIS IS A CONTROLLED SHEAR JOINT AND SUBSTITUTE PARTS MAY DESTROY SHEAR CAPABILITY OF JOINT.

Install lock handle (Ref par. 3.B.).

MAIN CARGO DOOR LATCH ACTUATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. During removal or installation o f the latch actuator assembly or during lubrication of actuator and linkage components, extreme care must be taken to avoid contamination of the cabin lining with hydraulic fluid or lubricants. A container will be necessary to catch hydraulic fluid from disconnected lines. Should any fluid spill on the airplane, decontaminate. Refer to Chapter 12, Cleaning and Washing.
2. Equipment and Materials
A. A suitable container to catch hydraulic fluid
B. Grease, MIL-G-23827
3. Prepare for Removal
A. Close and lock main cargo door.
B. Open main cargo door circuit breaker on load control center P6.
C. Remove center window and dado panels. Refer to 52-32-81.
4. Remove Latch Actuator
A. Disconnect and cap actuator hydraulic lines (2, figure 401) from door hydraulic lines at adjustable mounting bracket (3).
B. Remove cotter pin, nut, washer and bolt (9) from actuator pushrod and latch torque tube (8).
C. Remove cotter pin, nut, washer and bolt (1) from upper actuator (5) fitting.
D. Remove actuator.
5. Install Latch Actuator
A. With main cargo door closed and locked, place actuator upper fitting between upper attachment brackets and install bolt, washer and nut (1, figure 401).
NOTE: Before installing actuator attaching bolts, coat shanks with film of MIL-G-23827 grease.

B. Attach actuator pushrod to latch torque tube (8) with bolt, washer and nut (9).
