Aerospace Corporation Flight Operations and Publications Departments. The
purpose of this manual is to:
• Provide the necessary operating limitations, procedures, performance and
systems information needed by flight crew personnel to safely and
efficiently operate the Gulfstream IV aircraft during all anticipated
operations.
• Serve as a comprehensive reference for use during initial training,
transition training and recurrent training and proficiency checks for the
Gulfstream IV aircraft.
• Provide necessary operational data from the FAA-approved Gulfstream IV
Airplane Flight Manual (AFM).
• Provide standardized procedures and practices to enhance operation of
the Gulfstream IV aircraft.
2. How To Use This Manual:
A. Organization:
Early in the initial issue distribution, Gulfstream sent a fourth binder to all
Operators who received only three binders. This fourth binder is labeled
″Volume 1A″, making the volume numbering ″1, 1A, 2 and 3″ for these
Operators. In subsequent distributions, however, the fourth binder is
labeled ″Volume 4″, making the volume numbering ″1, 2, 3 and 4″ for these
Operators. That being explained, Gulfstream recommends organizing the
GIV Operating Manual in the following manner:
• Volume 1: Chapters 0, 1 and 2A (up to and including 2A-28-00: Fuel)
• Volume 1A (or 2): Remainder of Chapter 2A and Chapter 2C
• Volume 2 (or 3): Chapters 3 through 9
• Volume 3 (or 4): Chapters 10 through 13, Appendix and
Supplements
B. Division of Material:
Material presented within the Operating Manual is arranged in a Chapter /
Section / Subsection / Sub-Subsection system. Each section and
subsection have an associated index number. Each portion of the index
number has a significant meaning as outlined below.
Given an index number of 05-17-46:
• 05 represents the Chapter Number.
• 17 represents the Section Number.
• 40 (the 4 of 46) represents the Subsection Number.
• 6 (the 6 of 46) represents the Sub-Subsection Number.
C. Table of Contents Presentation:
Each chapters contains a List of Effective Pages and a Table of Contents.
Sections and Subsections within each Section are presented in each Table
of Contents.
