PROXIMITY SENSOR SYSTEM -PSEU 1 -FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
General
PSEU 1 gets input signals from proximity sensors and from discrete inputs. It sends output signals for:
*
Cargo door control
*
Landing gear indication
*
Tail strike indication
*
Thrust reverser control and indication
*
Flight lock function (passenger doors).
Shared Resources
PSEU 1 uses two sets of power supply cards, microprocessor cards, and communication cards as shared resources.
The shared resource cards supply electrical power (except for cargo door control) and processing functions to all of the driver and proximity cards in PSEU 1.
Power Supply
The 28v dc left main bus and the battery bus each supply power to one of the power supply cards in the shared resources.
The ground handling bus supplies power to the power supply card for the cargo door control function.
Outputs
Each communication card supplies position data to other airplane systems through either the left or the right ARINC 629 systems buses.
The driver cards supply discrete outputs directly to other airplane systems.
Cargo Door Control
The cargo door control function uses these cards:

A power supply card
*
A proximity card
*
An 18 channel driver card.
The cargo door control function gets inputs from proximity sensors on the forward and aft cargo doors. Outputs from the driver card control the operation of the cargo doors.
Landing Gear/Tail Strike
The landing gear/tail strike function uses these cards:

A proximity card
*
An 18 channel driver card.

The landing gear/tail strike function gets inputs from proximity sensors on the nose and main landing gears and the landing gear doors. This function also gets discrete inputs from the landing gear control lever module and the alternate extend switch.
Discrete signals through the tail strike assembly go to this function to find tail strike status.
Thrust Reverser
The thrust reverser function has a proximity card that gets inputs from the proximity sensors on the left engine. This function supplies fault data for the left engine thrust reverser.
Flight Lock
The flight lock function uses a 10 channel driver card to control the flight lock function of the passenger entry doors. The passenger entry doors lock when the computed airspeed is more than 80 knots.
