Push MUSIC channel 1 or channel 2 switch to on.

(b)  
Check switch illuminates when closed.

(c)  
Rotate MUSIC control to a comfortable listening level.

Check that music is at the same level and is clear in all PA speakers except attendant's speakers.

(4)  
Rotate the MUSIC off/on/volume control and check that the audio level varies smoothly throughout the entire range.

(5)  
Turn on PA audio on captain's audio selector panel and check that music is present at captain's speaker.

(6)  
On GUN/XIA B-2509 and B-2510, at prerecorded announcement control panel at forward attendant station, press a lettered button, a numbered button, and the ANN (announcement) button.

(a)  
Check that prerecorded announcement is loud and clear at any speaker.

(b)  
Check that prerecorded announcement interrupts boarding music.

On GUN/XIA ALL EXCEPT B-2501-B-2505, B-2509-B-2512, and B-2514-B-2516, at prerecorded announcement/boarding music tape reproducer at forward attendant station, enter announcement code on keyboard and press START button.

(a)  
Check that prerecorded announcement is loud and clear at any speaker.

(b)  
Check that prerecorded announcement interrupts boarding music.

 

(8)  
Make an announcement from the forward and aft attendant's station and check that announcement is loud and clear at any PA speaker and that it interrupts music.

(9)  
Repeat step (8) for forward attendants' seat microphone, if installed.

(10)
While making an announcement from the forward attendant's microphone, make an announcement from the control stand PA microphone or handset, as applicable, and check that attendant's announcement is interrupted and check that PA sidetone is present in captain's earphones.

NOTE:  The PA sidetone may be adjusted to a comfortable listening level with the PA sidetone potentiometer on the front of the audio accessory unit.

Repeat step (10) for the aft attendant's microphone.

Repeat step (10) for the forward attendant's seat microphone, if installed.

On GUN/XIA ALL EXCEPT B-2501-B-2505, B-2511, B-2512, and B-2514-B-2516, make a prerecorded announcement and repeat step (10).

Select PA microphone on captain's audio selector panel.

(15)
While making an announcement from the forward attendant's microphone, make an announcement from captain's station through flight interphone system and check that attendant's announcement is interrupted.

(16)
Repeat step (15) for the forward seated attendant's microphone and also for the aft attendant's microphone.

(17)
On GUN/XIA ALL EXCEPT B-2501-B-2505, B-2511, B-2512, and B-2514-B-2516, make a prerecorded announcement and repeat step (15).

(18)
While listening to music, disconnect D4147J at E2-1 and check that audio level increases.

(19)
Reconnect D4147J.

Turn off music and interphone speakers.

Press call button at a PSU and check for a high tone.

(22)
Reset call button.

(23)
Press ATTENDANT call button at forward attendant's panel and check for a high tone followed by a low tone.

Set FASTEN BELTS switch on overhead panel P5 to ON and check for low tone in passenger cabin.

Set FASTEN BELTS switch on overhead panel P5 to OFF and check for low tone in passenger cabin.

(26)
Remove electrical power if no longer required.

PASSENGER ADDRESS LOUDSPEAKERS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1.  General
A.  The passengers' loudspeakers are installed in the PSU's (passenger service units) in the passenger cabin; each attendant's loudspeaker is installed in a center ceiling panel at the attendant's station, lavatory speakers are installed in the ceiling PSU's in the lavatories. Instructions for removal and installation of PSU speakers are in par. 3 thru 5. Attendants' speakers are covered in par. 6 and lavatory speakers are covered in par. 7.
B.  After installation, the speaker should be checked using the test in par. 8.
2.  Prepare for Speaker Removal and Installation
A.  Open PA AMPLIFIER circuit breaker on P6.
