Step Climb
4.9 - Moved paragraph describing the technique for a step climb from the section titled Optimum Altitude to this section. Changed the description of how step climbs are accomplished by eliminating reference to 2000 foot flight levels. Flight levels are more compact in RVSM or metric airspace.
Cruise Using HUD System
4.10 - Modified to explain why horizon accuracy is limited above 25,000 feet.
ETOPS
4.16 - Removed the sentence that indicated normal procedures on ETOPS flights do not differ from standard normal procedures. Normal procedures are different in that a fuel crossfeed valve check is performed on ETOPS flights and the APU should be operating during the ETOPS phase of flight. Removed reference to the fuel crossfeed check being an FAA requirement. Normal procedures require that a fuel crossfeed check be accomplished on all ETOPS flights regardless of the regulatory agency.
Polar Operations
4.16 - Removed reference to the cold temperature altitude correction table. This table is now located in the Cold Weather Operations section of SP.16 in the FCOM.
4.17 - Corrected the note to reference an ADIRU instead of an IRU.
Speedbrakes
4.21 - Modified technique for maintaining proper airspeed during level off for clarity.
Holding
4.23 - Section reorganized and some new titles added to more clearly identify information.
Chapter 5 - Approach and Missed Approach Approach Category
5.3 - Clarified the explanation of how approach minimums are determined using both USA and ICAO criteria. Explained how under USA and ICAO rules, the criteria for a circling approach differs.

ILS Approach - Fail Passive
5.10 - Changed "channel" to "autopilot" because this term is more familiar to most pilots. Added recommendation to disengage the autothrottle when the autopilot is disengaged. Autothrottle use during manual flight is not recommended for approach and landing. Changed header to read "Minimum use height" as used in the limitations chapter.
ILS Approach - Fail Operational
5.11 - Removed misleading reference to "dual channel". The fail operational ILS approach would not be flown using one autopilot. Modified note to indicate that flaps 30 is used only if performance permits.
ILS Approach/Landing Geometry
5.27-28 - Added data for the 737-800SFP.
Non-Normal Operations
5.29 - Removed note because use of the autothrottle was not required as part of the certification process.
Non - ILS Instrument Approaches - General
5.33 - Added reference to "Continuous Descent Final Approach" or "(CDFA)". This technique has been described in the FCTM for the last few years without the name or associated acronym. CFDA is commonly used in PANS-OPS and other regulatory publications.
Instrument Approach Using VNAV
5.48 - Added a technique to help the crew comply with approach minimum altitudes while descending prior to and on the approach.
5.48 - Added a technique to help the crew comply with approach minimum altitudes where the GP angle begins prior to the FAF.
5.48 - Modified recommendation on when landing flaps are selected to match the profile.
Instrument Approach Using IAN (As installed)
5.52 - Added recommendation to disengage the autothrottle when the autopilot is disengaged. Autothrottle use during manual flight is not recommended for approach and landing. Changed the title of the last block of text to "Minimum use height for single autopilot".
5.53 - Moved text that was located later in this section to the list of requirements and restrictions.
