FUEL LEVEL SENSING
OVERFLOW LEVEL
When full level is reached in the wing tank and
overflows into the vent surge tank, the overflow sensor
sends a signal to the Engine Interface Unit (EIU) to
close the Fuel Return Valve (FRV).
TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The temperature sensor commands the closure of the
Fuel Return Valve, through the ECU, when the
temperature of the fuel in the wing exceeds the limits
(52.5 degrees C).
IDG SHUT-OFF SENSOR
The FLSCUs signal the FADEC to close the Fuel Return
Valve.
If the fuel level is below 280 kg (616 lbs), the IDG
shut-off sensor stops the IDG cooling.

There are two ultracomps, one in the lowest part of
the center tank and one in the lowest part of the wing
tank.
The ultracomp houses 3 sensors:
- parallel plate capacitor.
- velocimetor.
- temperature sensor.
The parameters given by these 3 sensors are used by
the FQIC for fuel mass calculation.
