Functional Description
The handle lets you put the valve in the OPEN or CLOSE
position.
In the OPEN position, the forward lavatory drain valve lets the
water drain from all the forward lavatory and galley supply
lines. The water drains through the forward potable water drain
port.
In the CLOSE position, the water from the supply lines flows to
the lavatory and galley components. Water does not flow
overboard.
A placard shows the valve in the OPEN and CLOSE positions.
Training Information Point
You must put the forward lavatory drain valve in the CLOSE
position before you operate the water system. If you do not put
the valve in the CLOSE position, water will drain from the
forward lavatory during operation.

Purpose
The water filter removes dirt, chlorine, and odor from water
supplied to the cold water faucet.
Location
There is a water filter in each lavatory. The water filter is in the
cold water line between the shutoff valve and the faucet. You get
access to the water filter through the cabinet door.
Physical Description
The water filter has these parts:
* Housing
* Inlet
* Outlet
* Vent
* Canister (not shown)
* Cover.
Functional Description
The canister is a charcoal filter. The charcoal filter removes the
contamination from the potable water.
Training Information Point
You must change the canister on a regular schedule.
Before you remove the canister, the water supply shutoff valve
must be in the OFF position and you must drain the water from
the water filter housing. You use the water filter drain valve to
drain the water from the water filter housing. The water drains
through the water filter drain hose.
You must remove the canister before you disinfect the potable
water system.

Purpose
The lavatory faucet controls the hot and cold water supply to the
lavatory sink.
Location
There is a faucet in each lavatory. The faucet is on the sink
backsplash.
Physical Description
These are the parts on the outside of the faucet:
* Hot button
* Cold button
* Decorative cover
* Attach screw
* Reducer
* Drain button
* Adjustment screw.
The attach screw and the reducer attach the decorative cover to
the faucet.
The adjustment screw lets you adjust the water flow from 4
seconds to 10 seconds. There is an adjustment screw for the hot
and cold water flows.
Functional Description
The hot and cold buttons operate cartridge valve plungers. The
plungers let water flow through the valve for a specified time.
The faucets are self-venting. You do not have to open the
faucets to drain the potable water system.
