In addition to traffic, obstacle and terrain data, it is desirable to display various forms of weather data in the cockpit, both in strategic and tactical formats.
Weather products may include:
Cloud density (satellite imagery)
Convective activity (Doppler radar measurements)
Favorable or unfavorable winds aloft (LIDAR or
information from other aircraft)
Fog/smoke (local measurements)
High surface winds (local measurements)
Icing conditions (downlinked data and/or infrared
measurements)
