4.10.2 All performance Class 1 and Class 2 helicopters
when operated in accordance with the instnunent flight rules
shall be fitted with an emergency power supply, independent
of the main electrical generating system, for the purpose ?f
operating and illuminating, for a minimum period of
30minutes, an attitude indicating instrument (artificial
horizon), clearly visible to the pilot-in-command. The
emergency power supply shall be automatically operative after
the total failure of the main electrical generating system and
clear indication shall be given on the instrument panel that the
attitude indicator(s) is being operated by emergency power.
4.11 All helicopters when
operated at night
a) a magnetic compass;
4.11.1 All helicopters, when operated at night shall be
b) an accurate timepiece indicating the time in hours, equipped with:
minutes and seconds;
a) all equipment specified in 4.10;
C) two sensitive pressure altimeters with counter drumpointer

d) an airspeed indicating system with means of preventing flight or operating on the movement area of a heliport
malfunctioning due to either condensation or icing; are contained in the Airworthiness Manual (Doc 9760).
e) a slip indicator; c) two landing lights;
f ) three attitude indicators (artificial horizon), one of d) illumination for all instruments and equipment that are

4.12 Helicopters when carrying passengers -
significant-weather detection
Recommendation.- Helicopters when carrying
passengers should be equipped with operative weather mdar
or other significant-weather detection equipment whenever
such helicopters are being operated in areas where
thunderstorms or other potentially hazardous weather
conditions, regarded as detectable, may be expected to exist
along the route either at night or under instrument
meteorological conditions.
4.13 All helicopters required to comply
with the noise certification
Standards in Annex 16, Volume I
All helicopters required to comply with the noise certification
Standards of Annex 16, Volume I shall carry a document
attesting noise certification. When the document, or a suitable
statement attesting noise certification as contained in another
document approved by the State of Registry, is issued in a
language other than English, it shall include an English
translation.
Note 1.- The attestation may be contained in any
document, carried on board, approved by the State of Registry
in accordance with the relevant provisions of Annex 16,
Volume I.
Note 2.- The various noise certijication Standards of
Annex 16, Volume I which are applicable to helicopters are
determined according to the date of application for a type
certificate, or the date of acceptance of an application under
an equivalent prescribed procedure by the certificating
authority. Some helicopters are not required to comply with
any noise certtjication Standard. For details see Annex 16,
Volume I, Part 11, Chapters 8 and 11.
4.14 Helicopters carrying passengers -
cabin crew seats
4.14.1 All helicopters shall be equipped with a forward or
rearward facing (within 15' of the longitudinal axis of the
helicopter) seat, fitted with a safety harness for the use of each
cabin crew member required to satisfy the intent of 10.1 in
respect of emergency evacuation.
Note 1.- In acconiance with the provisions of 4.2.2 c) I),
a seat and seat belt shall be provided for the use of each
additional cabin crew member.
Note 2.- Safety harness includes shoulder straps and a
seat belt which may be used independently.
