Appendix 2 For the 1 :500 000 and 1 : 1 000 000 charts, the symbols of the Instituto Panamericano de Geografia e
Historia are used. The aerodrome sy~nbols used are similar to those used on the 1500 000 and
1 :1 000 000 charts (specifications of the Instituto Panamericano de Geografia e Historia). Some different
symbols are used on IAC, SID and STAR charts.
Remark: For the IAC, SID and STAR charts, adoption ofthe proposed symbols would require correction
of all existing charts.

2.2 Australian charts carry a title to describe their function. Not all charts are titled to conform to the Annex.
Functional descriptions are considered more appropriate for Australia.
2.5.7 Comply in part. The conversion scale is shown for the hypsometric tint scale on all visual charts. The
kilometre/NM scale is shown on all visual charts. The metredfeet scale is being progressively included
on all Visual Navigation Charts (VNCs) and Visual Terminal Charts (VTCs). This Standard is being
applied.
