a. CUE Update Procedure.
NOTE
The CUE update procedure should be accomplished
whenever the TADS FLIR is
reportedas being unable to be internally
boresighted. Once the CUE update
procedure has been accomplished and
the TADS FLIR still cannot be boresighted,
continue with troubleshooting
as specified in TM 9-1270-476-20.
1. SIGHT SEL switch - TADS.

Tracker polarity white over black.
Laser trigger - Press and hold.
BRSIT ENABLE switch - UP. Observe
tracking gates capture laser spot. Continue
to fire laser until tracking gates disappear.
If spot cannot be captured by tracking
gates, perform manual boresight
adjustment, paragraph 4.31.7 d.
2. Sensor select switch - TV. k. BRSIT ENABLE switch - CENTER.

SLAVE switch - Actuate. Verify internal
boresight message replaced by cue update
message.
If reticle does not appear centered on the
black cross, execute the following:
a. BRSIT ENABLE switch - UP.
b. Use thumbforce controller to position DTV
reticle in proximity to the black cross.
c. BRSIT ENABLE switch - CENTER.
d. SLAVE switch - Actuate. Verify cue update
message replaced by internal boresight
message.
e. BRSIT TADS switch - OFF. Procedure
complete, continue as desired.
b. TADS Internal Boresight.

1. Laser trigger - Release.
The DTV zoom FOV shall not be activated
for more than 2 minutes of continuous
operation to prevent excessive
raster retention. Permanent
damage may occur if it is engaged for
more than 5 minutes continuously.

n. Repeat steps i. thru 1.

FLIR - Adjust level fully counterclockwise.

Laser trigger - Press and hold.
Observe laser spot, and optimize FLIR. If
laser spot is not visible, perform CUE Up
date Procedure, paragraph 4.31.7 a.
BRSIT ENABLE switch - UP. Observe
tracking gates capture laser spot. Continue
to fire the laser until tracking gates
disappear. If spot cannot be captured by
tracking gates, perform manual boresight
adjustment, paragraph 4.31.7 d.
BRSIT ENABLE switch - CENTER.

Observe position of DVO crosshairs; if coincident
with DTV reticle, go to step g, below.
BRSIT ENABLE switch - DOWN.
DVO BRSIT - Adjust DVO crosshairs into
coincidence with DTV reticle.
BRSIT ENABLE switch - CENTER.
BRSIT TADS - OFF
ACQ SEL switch - FXD.
SLAVE switch - Press, TADS returns to
the fixed forward position.
c. TADS Outfront Boresight.
TADS Outfront Boresight validation
and adjustment (if necessary) shall
be performed prior to using the TADS
FLIR imagery for laser or weapons
operations, after performing a cue
update, a TADS component change or
if the helicopter experiences an abnormal
electrical shutdown.
1. Position helicopter on the ground over identified
location for this procedure.
2. If on an approved laser firing range, fire laser
to obtain range. Otherwise, enter manually
the range from helicopter to the outfront boresight
target.
NOTE
If the target is between 0.5 km and
1.5 km, the range entered on the DEK
must be within 10 meters. If the target is
between 1.5 km and 5 km, the range entered
on the DEK must be within 50 meters.
If the target is greater than 5 km, the
range entered on the DEK must be within
1 km.
3. Observe the outfront boresight target in
NFOV FLIR, adjust gain and level for optimum
autotracker image. Engage LAT.
