11.7 Precision Approach Radar Rating Endorsement (PAR)
This rating endorsement relates to the provision of precision radar approaches using precision approach radar equipment.
11.8 Terminal Control Rating Endorsement (TCL)
This rating is associated with the provision of terminal control services at a terminal control unit.
11.9 Offshore Rating Endorsement (OFF)
This rating endorsement relates to the provision of services primarily to helicopters operating to and from offshore oil and gas platforms.
11.10 Special Tasks Rating Endorsement (SPT)
This rating endorsement relates to the provision of services to aircraft involved in research and development activities.

 


12 Area Control Service Rating and Endorsement
12.1 Area Control Procedural Rating (ACP)
This rating relates to the provision of area control services without the use of any surveillance equipment. In the UK it is always associated with the Oceanic rating endorsement.

12.2 Oceanic Rating Endorsement (OCN)
The Oceanic rating endorsement is associated with the provision of Area Control to aircraft in the Shanwick Oceanic Area over the North Atlantic.

 

13 Area Radar Control Service Ratings and Endorsements
13.1 Area Control Surveillance Rating (ACS)
This rating relates to the provision of an area control service from an area control centre.

13.2 Rating Endorsements
The Area Control Surveillance rating has a number of rating endorsements associated with it, all of which require the holder also to hold a Radar or Automatic Dependent Surveillance or Multilateration rating endorsement.

13.3 Radar Rating Endorsement (RAD)
The Radar rating endorsement indicates that radar is the surveillance equipment used to provide the Air Traffic Control service.

13.4 Automatic Dependent Surveillance Rating Endorsement (ADS)
The ADS rating endorsement indicates that ADS is the surveillance equipment used to provide the Air Traffic Control service.

13.5 Multilateration Rating Endorsement (MLT)
Indicates that multilateration is the surveillance equipment used to provide the Air Traffic Control service.

13.6 Terminal Control Rating Endorsement (TCL)
This rating is associated with the provision of terminal control services at a terminal control unit.

14 Unit Endorsements
14.1 Gaining a Unit Endorsement
A unit endorsement will be issued when you pass a rating or unit endorsement examination. It indicates the unit and the individual sectors at Area Control Centres, or operational positions at Aerodromes, on which you are competent to provide an Air Traffic Control service. It also indicates the type of radar equipment you may use in the provision of that service.

14.2 Renewal
A unit endorsement is issued for a period of 12 months. Before it expires it must be renewed by an assessment of your continuing competence to provide the Air Traffic Control service to which the unit endorsement relates. The assessment may be carried out within a 45-day period preceding the date of expiry of the current unit endorsement. Provided you are assessed as competent, the unit endorsement will be renewed for 12 months from the date of expiry of the current endorsement.


15 Other Licence Endorsements
15.1 Gaining a Licence Endorsement
To be granted one of the licence endorsements detailed below you will be required to undertake a training course and meet certain experience requirements.
