8.2 Licence Details
The licence is issued for your lifetime unless it is revoked by the CAA. It will contain:
a) details of your name, date of birth and nationality;
b) a record of the ratings, rating endorsements and licence endorsements you hold

and the date they were obtained; and c) your current unit endorsements. You must sign the licence in ink to enable the CAA to identify you as the holder of the
licence. It is your responsibility to advise the CAA of any changes to the details contained in the licence.

8.3 Ratings and Rating Endorsements
Ratings indicate the type of Air Traffic Control service you may provide, while their associated rating endorsements indicate specialist tasks within those ratings and, where appropriate, the surveillance equipment used to provide the service.


9  Aerodrome Control Service Ratings and Endorsements
9.1  Aerodrome Control Visual Rating (ADV)
This rating permits the holder to provide an aerodrome control service at aerodromes that have no published instrument approach or departure procedures.

9.2  Aerodrome Control Instrument Rating (ADI)
This rating permits the holder to provide an aerodrome control service at aerodromes that have published instrument approach and/ or departure procedures. There are a number of rating endorsements associated with this rating.

9.3  Tower Control Rating Endorsement (TWR)
This rating endorsement is applicable in control towers where the aerodrome control service is provided from one operational position.
9.4  Ground Movement Control and Air Control Rating Endorsements (GMC) and (AIR)
In the UK these rating endorsements are always issued together and are applicable in control towers where the aerodrome control service is subdivided into Ground Movement Control and Air Control.
In periods of low traffic intensity the holder of these rating endorsements may provide the services simultaneously from one operational position.

9.5  Ground Movement Surveillance Control Rating Endorsement (GMS)
This rating endorsement is issued to the holders of Tower or Ground Movement Control rating endorsements where ground movement control surveillance equipment is used in the provision of an aerodrome control service.

9.6  Aerodrome Radar Rating Endorsement (RAD)
An Aerodrome Radar rating endorsement will be issued to the holders of Tower Control or Air Control rating endorsements at certain units.
10  Approach Control Service Rating
10.1  Approach Control Procedural Rating (APP)
In general, this rating is only applicable at aerodromes that provide approach control services but do not have radar; however, at certain units that have radar this rating may also be required.
11  Approach Radar Control Service Ratings and Endorsements
11.1  Approach Control Surveillance Rating (APS)
This rating is applicable at units that provide an approach radar control service.
11.2  Rating Endorsements
The Approach Control Surveillance rating has a number of rating endorsements associated with it, all of which require the holder also to hold a Radar or Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS) or Multilateration (MLT) rating endorsement.
11.3 Radar Rating Endorsement (RAD)
Indicates that radar is the surveillance equipment used to provide the Air Traffic Control service.
11.4 Automatic Dependent Surveillance Rating Endorsement (ADS)
Indicates that ADS is the surveillance equipment used to provide the Air Traffic Control service.
11.5 Multilateration Rating Endorsement (MLT)
Indicates that multilateration is the surveillance equipment used to provide the Air Traffic Control service.
11.6 Surveillance Radar Approach Rating Endorsement (SRA)
This rating endorsement is issued at units where approach radar controllers use radar to provide non-precision surveillance radar approaches (SRAs).
