Boeing Business Jet
The Boeing Business Jet, or BBJ, is a long range corporate jet development of the “next
generation” 737-700.
Boeing Business Jets is a joint venture formed by Boeing and General Electric in July
1996, to develop and market a corporate version of the popular 737 airliner. The BBJ is
based on the “next generation” 737-700's airframe, has the strengthened wing, fuselage
center section and landing gear of the larger and heavier 737-800 and has a number of
auxiliary fuel tanks to extend the range up to 6000+ NM. It has an advanced two crew six
LCD screen EFIS avionics flight deck that is also found on the other “next generation”
737. Boeing Business Jets equipped the BBJ with winglets.
The BBJ flew for the first time on September 4, 1998 and deliveries started shortly after
that.
