Route Availability Document (RAD)
The CFMU Route Availability Document (RAD) is a document listing all route restrictions within the airspaces of Eurocontrol member states. Each state has a dedicated annex, the UK annex being designated "EG" (RAD EG). Further restrictions are detailed in the appendices pertaining to the North Atlantic European Routeing Scheme (NERS), city pair level caps (RAD Appendix 3) and DCT restrictions (RAD Appendix 4 & 5).
Each of the restrictions detailed in the CFMU RAD annexes provide the basis for flight plan acceptance or rejection in the IFPS system. Each individual restriction is defined as a "RAD unit" and is given a unique reference composed of the country identifier and four digits e.g. EG2151. Where a restriction crosses the border between two member states, the RAD reference will be composed of the country identifier of both countries and four digits e.g EBEG1001.
Certain RAD restrictions pertaining to routeings may be noted in the remarks column of the UK & Ireland Standard Route Document. Details of the RAD restrictions can be found on the Eurocontrol website address www.cfmu.eurocontrol.int/rad/index.htm. The UK RAD is also available as a supplement to the UK AIP (S 33/2003) , website address www.ais.org.uk.
