OPERATIONAL LIMITS
These operational limits apply when performing steep approaches:
1. The wing flaps, antiskid system, and speedbrakes must be operational.
2. The range of approved approach glide path angles is from 4.5° up to and including 5.5°.
3. Airspeed - SVREF.
4. Steep approaches commencing with one engine inoperative are prohibited.
5. Steep approaches in icing conditions are prohibited.
6. Maximum airport elevation is 5000 feet MSL.
7. Minimum demonstrated go-around altitude is 170 feet AGL.
8. Minimum autopilot use height for steep approaches is 400 feet AGL.
9. Maximum tailwind component is 5 knots.
KINDS OF OPERATIONS
1. The airplane is approved for steep approaches in visual or instrument meteorological
conditions, with no known or forecast icing conditions for the approach environment, using
an approved visual or ILS glidepath reference system.
2. This supplement does not constitute operational approval to conduct steep approach
operations.
PERFORMANCE LIMITATIONS
1. The airplane must be flown in accordance with the procedures defined in this supplement.
2. Speed at glidepath intercept must be no greater than SVREF +10.
3. The airplane must be stabilized on the glidepath, at SVREF, by 400 feet AGL and remain
stabilized to 35 feet AGL.
4. The performance data in this supplement is based on approach glidepath angles from 4.5°
up to and including 5.5°.
5. If the visual glidepath reference system is not used, a landing distance adjustment must be
applied as presented in Performance - General, PROCEDURES FOR USE OF STEEP
APPROACH AND LANDING PERFORMANCE TABLES contained in this supplement.
6. Low airspeed awareness system indication (green circle) for approach reference speed
may be inaccurate in the steep approach configuration and must not be relied upon for
determining or maintaining SVREF.

OPERATING PROCEDURES
The operating procedures are the same as those in the basic FAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual
except:
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
ENGINE FAILURE DURING STEEP APPROACH
3. Flaps - CHECK LAND.
4. Speedbrakes - CHECK EXTENDED.
NOTE
• Speedbrakes will automatically retract when the throttles are moved to or beyond
approximately 85% N2.
• Retracting the speedbrakes and flaps will cause a speed increase that may not
allow restabilizing on glidepath and SVREF. Leaving the speedbrakes and flaps
fully extended allows the best chance for maintaining a stabilized approach. If the
airplane is not stabilized on glidepath at SVREF with speedbrakes extended and
flaps LAND by 400 feet AGL, a go-around should be performed.
5. Rudder Trim - TRIM toward operating engine as desired.
6. Throttle (Affected Engine) - CUTOFF.
7. Landing Gear - DOWN and LOCKED.
8. Pressurization - CHECK ZERO DIFFERENTIAL.
9. Autopilot and Yaw Damper - OFF (at or above minimums).
Procedure Completed
1. Throttle (Operating Engine) - INCREASE as required.
2. Airspeed - MAINTAIN SVREF.

ABNORMAL PROCEDURES
SINGLE-ENGINE GO-AROUND DURING STEEP APPROACH
CAUTION
• ALTITUDE LOSS OF APPROXIMATELY 80 FEET IS POSSIBLE DURING
A SINGLE-ENGINE GO-AROUND FROM A STEEP APPROACH.
• THE MINIMUM DEMONSTRATED SINGLE-ENGINE GO-AROUND
ALTITUDE IS 170 FEET AGL.
1. Throttle (operating engine) – TO Detent (Thrust Mode Indicator - green T/O).
2. Go-Around Button (either throttle) – PRESS.
NOTE
The flight director go-around mode is recommended to establish the initial climb pitch
attitude reference. Pressing the throttle mounted go-around button disengages the
autopilot, and engages the flight director go-around mode (wings level, +8° pitch).
3. Airplane Pitch Attitude – 8° INITIALLY (go-around pitch command) then AS REQUIRED.
4. AP/TRIM DISC – PRESS (if required to turn off Yaw Damper).
5. Flap Handle – TO/APR.
6. Speedbrakes – CONFIRM RETRACTED.
7. Climb Speed – VAPP MINIMUM.
8. LANDING GEAR Handle (when positive rate of climb is established) – UP.
9. Flap Handle (when clear of obstacles) – UP at VAPP +10 knots.
10. Airspeed – ACCELERATE TO VENR (118 KIAS).
11. Throttle (operating engine) – CLB Detent or as required.
12. YD or AP Switch – AS REQUIRED.
Procedure Completed
NORMAL PROCEDURES
APPROACH
1. Landing Data (VAPP, SVREF, Landing Distance, Weight, and Factors) – CONFIRM.
