Tourism Award Marco Polo for creating the best joint tourism product for Chinese travellers
17+1 tourism cooperation of Central and Eastern Europe and China launched Tourism Award Marco Polo in order to reward tourism businesses who attract Chinese tourists to the CEE region. Tourism Award Marco Polo will be a yearly prize and will receive wide international attention in governmental and business circles.
The China - CEEC's tourism cooperation is a successful professional platform of the 17+1 China- CEEC's governmental cooperation in the field of tourism. The cooperation strives to make Central and Eastern European countries more visible in China and aims at developing tourism relations between the two regions. The executive organ of the cooperation, the Tourism Coordination Centre (CEEntre) was established in 2014 on the initiative of the China. The CEEntre operates within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, in Budapest. Information about the 17+1 tourism cooperation is available at www.centre-china.com
Tourism Award Marco Polo was initiated in 2019. The winners of the first edition were announced at the 5th ministerial summit of the cooperation in Riga, Latvia on 23rd October, receiving wide international attention at the intergovernmental level and in business circles. http://en.chinaculture.org/2019-10/24/content_1455686.htm
Tourism Award Marco Polo rewards the "best joint Central and Eastern European tourism product" that was devised to meet the needs of Chinese travellers. The product, which is usually a CEE round trip, must be realized in at least 3 countries of the CEE region - composed of Albania, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.The "best joint Central and Eastern European tourism product" should be built on the unique character of the CEE region, its history, culture, traditions and use innovative approaches.
Starting from 2019, the gold, silver and bronze winners will be announced at the 17+1 ministerial summit, accompanied by a high-level business forum. For one year, the winner companies will wear a distinctive banner "Tourism Award Marco Polo, with the recommendation of the China - CEEC's Tourism Cooperation", when they communicate about their product. For one year, the Tourism Coordination Centre, the ministries of 17 CEE countries and China and the national tourism agencies of the 17 CEE countries will also promote the winner companies.
